Hope everyone had a wonderful Father's Day yesterday! We were up early and out of the house -- breakfast at IHOP so daddy could sleep in. We picked up some coffee and a breakfast sandwich for him and snuck back into the house to deliver him grub and presents. Along with some photo cufflinks of the two of us, we made him some pop art for his office! We have both always loved
Andy Warhol's Colors -- who doesn't love a pink cow? So we decided to make a pop art painting of each of us. First, mom showed us some other Warhol paintings online. And we flipped through our book again, too. Then mom let us each pick four colors for our paintings. She had already printed out four black and white copies of a picture of each of us and separated our heads from our bodies -- we thought that was hysterical.
Mom marked a canvas into four even sections and then we painted each one a different color. She was surprised that we mostly stayed within the lines (and found it helped a lot if she painted an outline for us and put a dot of paint in the middle of the rectangle). Then we painted each body and head piece a different color. When it all dried, mom glued the bodies onto the canvas. Teeeee daaaa - daddy's own pop art. If you are wary of using paint, bleeding tissue paper also works nicely (just have your mom and dad cut out the tissue paper roughly in the shape of the head and body parts) -- we have one of Vegas like that in our house.
